We're on the hunt for an exceptional freelance journalist
Could you write for The Pulse Illawarra?
We’re expanding our reporting, and we are seeking expressions of interest from experienced freelance journalists available for commissioned work.
If you’re a regular Pulse Illawarra reader, you’ll know our coverage focuses on the people, businesses, issues and ideas shaping the region, with an emphasis on reporting that provides context, explores solutions and contributes to informed public conversation.

We are looking for journalists who are passionate about local storytelling, interested in constructive journalism, and experienced in producing engaging, accurate and insightful content for a growing regional audience.
If you:
Have previous experience working in a newsroom environment.
Can demonstrate strong news judgement, reporting, interviewing and writing skills.
Are able to write in the style and tone of The Pulse Illawarra.
Have an interest in constructive journalism and solutions-focused reporting.
Are interested in local government, business, economic development, community issues and the people driving change across the region.
Can work independently, meet deadlines and collaborate effectively.
Commissions may include news reporting, feature writing, interviews, analysis and other editorial content across a range of topics relevant to the Illawarra region.
