Hundreds of jobs unfilled: Leaders call for united action to secure Wollongong’s future
With 1532 jobs unfilled, leaders urge coordinated action on workforce, housing, and infrastructure to unlock Wollongong’s economic potential and address growing regional pressures.
Two reports released this week about Wollongong’s future workforce show the city is standing at a turning point.
While forecasts suggest up to 18,000 new jobs could be created in the city over the next five years, local and regional leaders say the economic opportunity will be lost without urgent and coordinated action to address workforce and housing pressures.
A new report, released last night at the Builders Club in Wollongong by Regional Development Australia Illawarra Shoalhaven (RDAIS), titled State of the Workforce 2025, reveals the scale of the challenge.
