First identified in 1961 as “a long-term strategic plan”, the long-awaited Tripoli Way extension is finally taking shape. Early works are almost complete, and major tenders for the $74 million project will be released next month.

The Minns Government has injected an additional $20 million to ensure the bypass can be delivered in full. The road will link Terry Street to the Illawarra Highway at Broughton Avenue, diverting traffic from the Albion Park town centre and easing congestion that has frustrated commuters for decades.

Premier Minns said it was initially expected that $20 million from the state, along with Shellharbour City Council and developer contributions, would complete the works.
