Wollongong has earned international recognition for its investment in inclusive cycling infrastructure.
The city won the UCI Bike City Award for its Community Partners Program, a grassroots collaboration now hailed as a global benchmark in active transport and social inclusion.
The award, announced at the UCI Cycling for All & Sustainability Awards in Copenhagen over the weekend, affirms the city’s long-term vision to turn cycling into a community-wide driver of health, accessibility and sustainable transport - with growing economic impacts for Illawarra businesses and tourism.
Led by Destination Wollongong and supported by Wollongong City Council, the program brings together more than 25 local organisations - from The Disability Trust, and the Illawarra Cycle Club to Healthy Cities Illawarra and Rotary.
